Certified Origin, Traceable at Every Stage

The Japanese Wagyu beef we import comes with certification that allows for full traceability to its source. This confirms specific data for each animal, including its individual identification number, breed, sex, quality grade, and official meat grading results from Japan.

Customers can therefore be confident that the Wagyu beef they receive has clear provenance and has undergone inspection processes according to relevant standards.

Japanese Wagyu utilizes an identification and traceability system that enables the tracking of individual cattle data, from origin and identification details to specific meat grading information.

Grading certificates specify key information such as:

  • Individual Identification Number
  • Yield & Quality Grade
  • Beef Marbling Standard (BMS)
  • Beef Color Standard (BCS)

About the Beef Traceability System

Beef Traceability

Essentially, every head of cattle raised within Japan is assigned a unique 10-digit individual identification number.

This number is used to record various animal data in a national database, such as:

  • Date of birth

  • Sex

  • Breed

  • Place of birth

  • Rearing locations

  • Movement history

Even after the cattle are slaughtered and processed into beef, the production and distribution history can still be traced using the individual identification number, as well as lot numbers or other traceability data where applicable.

Consumers can also use this identification number to verify where the cattle were born and where they were raised.

This traceability system is a vital part of ensuring transparency and food safety within Japan's beef supply chain.
